DURSLEY WALKING FESTIVAL 2018

Our 2018 festival will take place from Thursday 4th October through to Sunday 7th October. Some of the walks we are planning are mentioned below. Full details of the walks will be posted nearer the time of the festival.

Wednesday 3rd October - pre festival tasters

A 1.5 hour Health Walk (Building Distance) from Cam.

A 2 hour walk from Dursley

Thursday 4th October

Uley through the Ages

A bird watching walk of 9.5 miles.

A 4.5 mile walk with U3A.

Health Walk from Dursley Town Centre.

Cam and the Winterbothams heritage walk.

Animals at dusk in the Crawley Valley.

Friday 5th October

Nordic Walking taster session of approximately 45 minutes.

A 5 mile Woods and fields walk to Uley and back.

Bagpath, Ozleworth, Lasborough and Boxwell walk.

Walk to Woodchester Mansion (to link with bus)

Cam's Historic Graveyards.

Walkies with Dursley Lions a 2 hour walk.

Evening Quiz Event ad Dursley Community Centre.

Apple Scrumping

In the evening there will be our annual quiz to be held at Dursley Community Centre. Teams of 4 with supper available. Bookings required. Full details including costs will be on website soon.

Saturday 6th October 

The Lantern Way Challenge - a 14 mile self led walk.

Geology walk.

Walk from Cam and Dursley railway station to WWT Slimbridge and return. This walk is also part of the Wessex Railway Walk programme and we are pleased that they have included this in their programme as well as in the festival programme of walks. Admission charge to WWT Slimbridge will apply.

Dursley Heritage Walk.

Walk from Cam and Dursley railway station to Dursley and return.This walk is also part of the Wessex Railway Walk programme and we are pleased that they have included this in their programme as well as in the festival programme of walks.

"The Cursed Thief" - Games and Clues for children.

Nordic walk taster session.

All day walk with South Cotswold Ramblers.

Half day walk with South Cotswold Ramblers of 5-6 miles.

Bus walk, catch bus to Berkeley area and return to Dursley by footpaths and tracks.

6.27 mile strenuous walk with Cotswold wardens from Cam Peak Car Park.

Library walk and book talk, using bus to Wotton and 5 mile walk back to Dursley/

In the evening their will an illustrated talk in Dursley Town Hall from volunteers at Berkeley Vale Railway on their plans and progress . There will be a small admission charge for this event.

Sunday 7th October

Figure of 8 walk - a choice of a 16 mile walk or either of the two 8 mile loops. 

A morning walk from Dursley.

An afternoon walk with Dursley Rambling Club.

Dursley Heritage walk.

The Greenway walk.

Ozleworth walk.

The closing event to The Dursley 2018 festival will again be our tea and cakes in the Dursley Methodist Church Hall. Come and join us to share memories of the festival.

Throughout the weekend we are planning a Treasure Hunt as a family event.

Full details of the walks will be included in our 2018 Dursley Walking Festival Programme which it is hoped will be printed towards the end of August.
